Water the plant and go off screen to the left. Go back to the cave where you started the game and keep climbing up the hill. This can only be obtained with the watering can hat. The trophy is at the end of this cave.Īfter you complete Toastopia which is located in the house to the left of the shop in the forest, it'll appear over the musician's house, which is the house to the right of the shop in the forest.Īfter completing the Pik Dug level (part of the story line,) you'll get the key to the cabin to enter the mine. Just keep walking to the left and you'll enter a hidden cave. Head to the bottom of the elevator in the center of the forest. There's a small jagged section in the upper right wall. Once you reach the resistance's base in the forest, also known as el bunko, head to the upper right corner where all the computers are. The trophy will be just outside the door. If you go inside, break all of the pots and leave again. The champion is in his house located just to the right of the windmill on the left side of the village.Īt the end of level 3, lakes, and right before you reach the forest, you'll see Sam's Potteries on the tree branches you can climb. Unlocked after you beat the Baskick champion. Unlocked after you find the rock three times. You'll see it in the first big cloud you land on. Just climb the platforms with the houses and jump on the umbrellas to reach the clouds. This trophy can be found in the clouds above the village. make sure to collect these before finishing the volcano area or you'll have to start all over. And require a whole new game if you miss them. You can get it on Nintendo Switch, or Steam, Itchi.io, and Gog (for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux), for $12.99. It’s a lot of whimsy crammed into a five-hour runtime. There’s always something new to see or do, so many playful ideas that are introduced and then tossed aside. It may be hard to describe, but Pikuniku is a delight. You’re also able to run into, jump off of, or kick around the other player just to mess with them. It’s also utilized in the game’s co-op mode, where two players each control an oval with legs (one red, one orange) and work together to navigate a number of puzzle platforming levels.
The only time the physics actually comes to the forefront of gameplay is during a one-on-one basketball-like minigame where you try to kick a ball into a basket while preventing the computer opponent from doing it. It goes on just long enough to be awkwardly funny. As they walk uphill, their legs extend to surprising lengths, or do a stutter step when they stop moving. It does an especially good job at animating the beast’s legs, producing some delightful and silly effects. Instead, it’s used for things that just feel fun to do: kicking rocks down hills, or knocking villagers off ledges.

The game never takes full advantage of the physics engine for any of the actual platforming or puzzle-solving in the game’s single player. The real star is the physics engine, which creates an inherent silliness and chaos that attempting to simulate things accurately can bring. Both of these are necessary skills, allowing you to roll around as an oval or kick rocks and other things around. They don’t really have a name, but everyone living in the village outside their cave fears them, calling them “the beast.” As the beast you’re able to run and jump around like you might expect, but you’re also able to kick and tuck your legs in to just be an oval.
In Pikuniku you control what looks like a red oval with legs.
